Our Story

Wilfried Horn was originally trained as a chef in Germany and moved to the United States where he met his wife Charlene. While he enjoyed his career as a chef, he later realized that this job took a lot of nights and weekends causing him to miss time with his family. As a result, he investigated other employment options. Soon he found a Painting contractor who was willing to train him. So will quit as a head chef and started to learn the paint and finishes business in the late 1970s.

In 1980 Wilfried obtained his painters contracting license and opened shop as Wilfried Horn Painting. His son Aaron was 10 years old at that time and he would go with his father every Saturday and on summer vacations every year thereafter.

Once Aaron graduated from high school he worked part time with his father and also did another job in retail that taught him skills like interviewing and managing employees, how to deal with the public, and how to manage accounts. Eventually in his early 20s Aaron decided to bring those skills to his father’s paint business. Wilfried decided that it was a great idea, so they formed a partnership and named it Wilfried Horn & Son Painting.

Now roughly 40 years later,  Wilfried has decided to retire as of December 31, 2022. However, As of January 1, 2023 his son Aaron has taken over the family business with a brand new name: Airhorn Painting. While the name may be new, customers can expect the same high-quality workmanship that has been handed down to the next generation.

The company continues to get repeat business and referrals from all the work they have done during these 40 years. The family motto has always been “Why not do it right the first time? Preparation is more that 50% of the job.” This has resulted in happy clients and in some cases, lasting friendships for many years.
